For the fifth consecutive year, Warn winches holds the title of Official Winch of the Ultimate Adventure. Now, this is no ceremonial moniker, Warn is the predominant winch brand on the variety of vehicles that set out to conquer this annual trip. You'll see a couple different styles of Warn winches on the UA this year. Models range from the relatively compact HS9500 found on the front of Fred Perry's custom TJ to the monster 16.5ti installed on Jeff Nasi's M715 support vehicle Ketih Bailey prefers to remain old school with his upright M8000 mounted on the front of his '84 CJ7.
Of those 4x4's, the most important is the Official Vehicle. This year, the staff of 4-Wheel and Off-Road built an old-school rig, a 1975 Chevy K-10. The Ultimate K-10 received not one but two Warn winches to prepare it for the grueling week of the UA and beyond. Up front, a Warn 9.5ti was mounted on an Off-Road Design front bumper assembly along with their 210HB lights. Out back, a 16.5ti is nestled in the floor of the bed underneath the spare tire.
Warn's official entry this year, a '90 Jeep YJ was piloted Warn's own Pat Meiwes. As you can imagine, Pat's Jeep comes resplendent with a variety of Warn product ranging from the winch to the lights and down to the axle shafts. Pat also graced the group with the finer points of winch use, which is always welcome.
