2006 Ultimate Adventure Truck and Driver Profiles - Trent McGee- 1987 Jeep Wrangler

Trent McGee- 1987 Jeep Wrangler

Driver: Trent Mcgee

Age:31

Occupation:Talking head

Where did you come from?:West Monroe, LA

Did you tow it out or drive it?:Towed it to the end, drove to beginning

How long have you been off-roading?:15 years

What got you into 4x4s?:A ratty old CJ-5 I bought in high-school...the most unreliable vehicle I've ever owned...I was hooked.

Favorite part of the trip:The dunes, with the first trail a close second.

Funniest thing you saw happen:There are too many to list.

What was your least favorite part of the trip?:All the waiting around

Hardtop, soft top, or no top:Bestop bikini top

Would you want to work for a 4x4 mag now that you've met us and seen what we do?:Been there, done that, never did get the T-shirt.

Would you kick out your co-driver if we had a supermodel to ride in your truck?:Honestly, probably not...most models can't wrench very well, and conversation would be a challenge. Tough choice though.

Would you do it again next year, or would it be asking too much of your battered body?:Hell yeah!

Favorite truck on the trip (besides your own):John's Bronco

Co-Driver:Sam Gillis

Age:Don't ask

Occupation:Army Supply Specialist

Engine/Mods:RamJet 350

Bumpers/rails/rollcage:Poison Spyder cage, corners, and rock sliders

Winch:Warn 9.0 XP

What (on your truck) gave you problems during the trip?:Let's see...Transmission/transfer-case adapter bolts backed out, required pulling the transfer case to tighten, one rear driveshaft, tranny didn't shift right until halfway through the trip when John Hughbanks spent all of five minutes working his magic and it worked like a champ from then on, intermittent overheating problems, nonfunctioning CB (co-driver installed and wired new one while I drove), replaced cigarette lighter to charge phones (co-driver installed and wired while I drove), wasted a rod end, rear wheel bearings were too tight (had to loosen).
