 Backyard Mud Bog Michigan

Desperate to escape the gravitational pull of southern California rockcrawling, we were thrilled to get an invitation to the second annual Cohoctah mud bog put on by the Moonlight Stompers 4x4 club of Michigan. This event is held every year on private land and is open to anyone who wants to try their luck at the bottomless mud pit-even guys like us.

We weren't able to bring a 4x4 this year so we flew into Flint, Michigan, and drove down to the bog Saturday morning to find pigs already roasting and people staking out the good seats as early as 8:00 a.m. By lunchtime there must have been more than 100 trucks and 1,500 spectators ready for action. After a brief driver's meeting the first truck into the bog was a fullsize Blazer that made it 30 feet before getting helplessly stuck. For the next nine hours it was nonstop bog blasting as one by one people lost to the mighty mud.

We had a great time and learned a lot about big tires, big blocks, and lots of throttle. If your club has an event like this you'd like us to check out, drop us a line at 4wheeloffroad.com. We'd love to meet you, see your rigs, and teach you how to pronounce Editor Rick Pw's last name.
