2005 Tierra Del Sol 4x4 Truck Event - Return To The Sand Box

Dirt. It's the four-letter word that we're all about. To us, mud is nothing but wet dirt, sand is dry dirt, and rocks-well they're just new dirt that hasn't been played with enough yet. Dirt is where our four-wheel-drive roots began, and it's where we like to return after we've spent the year getting caught up in truck shows, off-road races, and rockcrawls. It's our home.

To kick off our dirt season every year we scramble to get our 4x4s ready for the Tierra Del Sol (TDS) event held in Truckhaven Hills in Salton City, California. For the 43rd year, the San Diego-based Tierra Del Sol 4x4 club put on the huge event that brings in all the big names in off-road equipment and the who's-who in off-road celebrities. And we're there too.

Tierra Del Sol is kind of like Moab during the Easter Jeep Safari, but on a smaller scale. Like Moab, TDS is an off-road event where you can take any 4x4 and have a good time. This year we went back to basics and cruised into camp with our collection of cheap 4x4 uglies and we had more fun than ever. Based on the size of the event it looks like most of you did too.
