Rednecks on the rocks" simply describes the 2006 Superlift Spring 4xAdventure. Apparently "Git 'Er Done" bumperstickers are almost as easy to obtain in the greater Hot Springs area as Arkansas license plates. Tobacco products are also standard issue, but Yankees who venture south of the Mason-Dixon to Bill Clinton's hometown notice one other common denominator: the people here are suspiciously friendly. The venue itself offers challenging yet minimal-hassle four-wheeling. Just minutes outside of central Hot Springs, the Superlift ORV Park combines logging and mining trails with 5-rated enthusiast-engineered ones on 1,200 acres formerly owned by Weyerhaeuser. An investment group headed by Superlift founder Bret Lovett bought the property in 2001. Five years later, park amenities include RV hook-ups, tent pads, indoor showers, a covered pavilion, and a general store. The Hot Springs terrain is a mix of scenic dirt trails through the woods and groundwater-lubed rocks. The ground is strewn with novaculite, the rock used for making whetstones. Its name derived from the Latin term for razor stone, novaculite can easily shred sidewalls. The 4xAdventure offered tolerably hot times in Hot Springs. The pervasive smiles apparently come from people pursuing their passion. Red neckin' included at no extra charge. The 4xAdventure is a self-guided...  The 4xAdventure is a self-guided or a club-guided family four-wheeling fiesta on 1,200 wooded acres of former logging land. At the spring 2006 event, the Superlift ORV Park offered 91 trails, all of which are marked and rated on a 1 to 5 scale. Scot King is the Arkansas Crawlers' go-to guy for quick fixes. Driving skill and local knowledge allow Scot's old-school '54 3B to go places fuller-festooned rigs can't. Modest mods are a Buick 225 V-6, a Black Diamond 2.5-inch WJ lift, 33x12.50 Claws, 4.88 gears, a high-pinion 9-inch with a Detroit, a Dana 44 frontend with a Lockrite, and a Warn 8274.  Arkansas Crawlers president...  Arkansas Crawlers president Billy Mountjoy tackles Four Fingers in his daily-driver (193,000 miles) '97 TJ. It has a Superlift 4-inch lift, BDS lower control arms and steering skid, Nth Degree upper arms, JKS disconnects and steering linkage, a Teraflex bellypan and transfer case slip-yoke eliminator, 4.88 gears, an ARB front diff, a rear Super 35 kit with Detroit Locker, siped 35-inch Pro Comp Xterrains, Warn rocker guards and gas-tank skid, and a Ramsey 8,000-pound winch. The West's' TJ is built for muddin' with an NV3550, a Rubicon Express 4.5-inch long-arm kit and 2-inch body lift, OME shocks, JKS disconnects, 35x12.50 MT/Rs on 15x8 Rockcrawlers, 4.88 gears, a D30 frontend with an Ox Locker, a D44 rear with an ARB, AEV rocker guards, Custom4x4Fabrication bumpers, a Warn XD8000i, IPF auxiliary lights, and a Garvin Expedition Rack.  Seth Meyers chose a bypass...  Seth Meyers chose a bypass on Four Fingers and flipped violently off a ledge when attempting to merge onto the main trail. Former 4-Wheel & Off-Road tech boy turned cable TV host Trent McGee winched Seth back onto all fours. Amazingly, damage was limited to a trashed windshield frame and minor body dents thanks to Poison Spyder armor.  Painting contractor Rick Muns...  Painting contractor Rick Muns took his TJ straight from the dealer's lot to the 4x4 shop. He arrived at the event with less than 500 miles on the ticker. This '06 Unlimited has a Rubicon Express 8-inch Extreme long-arm kit, Dynatrac Trail Series D60s with 5.38s and Detroits, 42-inch TSL Pro-Rocks on 15x10 Extreme 32-bolt bead locks, AGR steering, Poison Spyder armor, and a Warn 9000Xi extractor.  Terry Ulven got his '85 Toy...  Terry Ulven got his '85 Toy "overhauled" on a cable TV show. While he thought his $500 beater was rotting in Colorado, it was actually being resurrected in a TV studio in Louisiana with an Advance Adapters 4:1 system, Marlin's crawling goodies, a 5-inch Superlift kit, Daystar shackles, Genuine Gear 5.29s with Detroits, JE Reel driveshafts, All-Pro bumpers and cage, 35-inch Pro Comp MTs on Rockcrawlers, and some good ol' redneck paint and bodywork.  Darren Sander of the Arkansas...  Darren Sander of the Arkansas Crawlers club is in the asphalt business, so he gets as far away from it as possible on weekends. His '92 YJ is built with a 3-inch Rough Country lift; Dana 44s with 5.38s and Detroits; 36x13.50-15 Iroks; and a Warn winch.  Eric "Wax On, Wax Off" Altom...  Eric "Wax On, Wax Off" Altom represented Okie pride in his John Lloyd-built Bloody Cow. Up for anything (as those who saw him at the club on Friday night can attest), Eric was one of the first to attempt Impossible.  Park investor John Lloyd trekked...  Park investor John Lloyd trekked to Hot Springs from Billings, Missouri, to put on his usual driving exhibition in the Scrangler. Spotter/"trail wife" Don Bumgardner hiked some serious vertical inclines while pulling cable, earning many campfire cold ones for helping John winch his way up the aptly named, newly cut trail Impossible.
