We can't get enough of big power and paddles blasting up a super steep hill of piled dirt, which takes mere seconds. So that's what takes us to a Quaboag Riders Motorcycle Club event in Monson, Massachusetts. Motorcycles? Well, it turns out that the Quaboag Riders were founded in 1944 by a group of Indian Motorcycle Co. test pilots, whose dream was to have their own motorcycle club and land to ride on and to promote events. In 1946 the club built a 400-foot-tall hill for motocross style hillclimbs, and it was billed as the "Largest hillclimb in the east" and gained a notorious reputation for being steep and loose. Over the years the club grew, and in 1978 the first 4x4 Truck Hillclimbs started, the result of which you see in these pages. Since the hill remains somewhat the same, we thought we'd include some drivers names and the results of the event. For information on future events, contact the Quaboag Riders at 413.267.4414, or log onto www.quaboagridersmc.com for a schedule and other cool information.
