The Bronco Falls trail isn't as tricky as it looks but is still dangerous. Dana Ferraro picks the right line up the falls with a little spotting assistance from her husband, Gary. Mildly modified JKs like the couple's '08 Wrangler work very well on these trails.
Some regions of this great country are geographically perfect for four-wheel adventure, like the terrain and off-highway action around Logandale, Nevada. Over 30 years ago the Vegas Valley 4-Wheelers realized this incredible area had great recreational potential and started hosting an annual Hump N Bump off-road event. Today the event continues to grow, with participants rolling in from all across the country, and all are guaranteed good time.
The terrain around Logandale features over 200 miles of trails and is chockfull of challenging red rock sandstone obstacles, sand dunes, steep-walled canyons, and remote desert trail runs. Headquarters for the Hump N Bump is Logandale's fairgrounds in the middle of town, and most of the trails are just a few minutes away. The town of Logandale is approximately 60 miles north of Las Vegas on Interstate 15 and just a few minutes northwest of Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
The Hump N Bump is an all-volunteer event, and its proceeds go to the Southern Nevada Trail Fund to help the fight of keeping public lands open for recreationists. Saturday after the trail rides, most folks hang out at the fairgrounds swapping trail stories, eating BBQ, and participating in the club's famous raffle. The annual Hump N Bump event draws participants from across the country, but lucky locals like Dan Hirmer in his '94 Jeep Wrangler YJ get to wheel these trails frequently enough to consider it home.

Our trail leader for the day was Stacy Barba from Las Vegas. There are lots of YJs in the club, and the members seem to have modifying them under control, while squeezing the best off-road performance out of them.

The Vegas Valley 4-Wheelers work closely with the BLM throughout the year, maintaining a good relationship by being great stewards of the land. The BLM Rangers always attend the Hump N Bump and are friendly characters to meet up with.

The trails of Hump N Bump vary from easy for beginners to moderate and difficult for experienced wheelers. It wasn't difficult to find fun off-chamber play areas along the way.

Vegas Valley club members and local Las Vegans, Tom and Robin Ferraris really enjoy the fact that these incredible trails are so close to home. They have attended a number of Hump N Bumps.
The trails around Logandale...
The trails around Logandale are on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land, so all Federal off-highway regulations apply. Most important, stay on the designated trails and clean up after yourself. If in doubt, don't wheel it; ask first.
The fiery red rock sandstone...
The fiery red rock sandstone around the area is spectacular and reminiscent of other famous wheeling locals but without the crowds. Ryan Zimmerman finds this area perfect for stretching the legs of his '05 Rubicon much of the year.
There's really not too much...
There's really not too much difference between these trails and Moab-other than the fact that Moab's trails are hundreds of long, boring miles farther northeast. It's just that the area around Logandale isn't as expansive, and there are no arches in sight.
