For nearly half a century four-wheel enthusiast from across the globe have made the annual trek to Moab, Utah, for the Easter Jeep Safari. Hosted by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers, the Easter Jeep Safari is one of the largest off-road enthusiast gatherings on the plant. Now entering its 44th year, the event has grown into a virtual 4x Mecca, bringing together man, machine, and some of the most incredible trail riding our nation has to offer.
For those of you new to the wheeling scene, Moab is a must-do wheeling locale that has trails easy enough for stock Jeep Wranglers and challenging enough for the toughest rock buggies. The town itself is surrounded by mountains and mesas and is nested away at 4,000 feet of elevation. Though Moab is a relatively small town it has plenty of lodging and camping accommodations for tent campers and hotel hoppers alike. Though it often seems like the weather changes at a moment's notice, this year's Easter Safari treated us with a great mix of sunshine, cool air, and even a light snow shower to whiten up the scenery.
We've been attending this annual wheeler's paradise for as long as we can remember, and each year we enjoy the event more and more. While enrolled participants get to enjoy guided trail tours (courtesy of the Red Rock 4-Wheelers), there is still plenty of wheeling and scenic offshoots for those just dropping by for a few days. So if you are ready to immerge yourself in 4x bliss, mark your calendar for next year's Easter Jeep Safari and visit www.rr4w.com for more information.
Before You Go
The Easter Jeep Safari is one of the most attended off-road events in the nation, so the Red Rock 4-Wheelers work with the local authorities to ensure that the event runs safe and smooth. If you're looking to experience Moab's epic trails for the first time, we suggest signing up for the official EJS event. Guided trail tours are a great way to learn the trails from the people who wheel them the most. Non-event participants will need to check the Red Rock 4-Wheelers' trail itinerary before hitting the red dirt, as the club often closes off the trail entrances when an official run is taking place. For more info on the Moab area and the event, be sure to visit www.moab-utah.com as well as www.rr4w.com for more information.
