Pie and other foods
In addition to 4x4’s and Jeeps Fred is also fond of food, and nothing is American as Pie. He hunted a sampling every day, as well as pizza, bar-b-q, coffee, and his favorite Tasy-Kakes.

Broke Down
The little Jeep did great across the country. Only twice did it require side of the road service, once in northern Arizona where the Alternator went Kaput and was replaced with a one wire version in a drive of suburban retirees, and the other just 2-miles into PA when the fan belt disintegrated and the spare was called into duty.

Getting Pulled over by the cops.
It happened twice, once due to a burnt out head light. The second time when we went down a road “closed to through traffic” which in Colorado means pull over and ticket anyone with out of state plates even though the road isn’t actually closed for construction.

Fred and Dave and Leah being Silly
A road trip will make you crazy, especially in an open Jeep across America during a heat wave. Fred’s friends Leah and Dave rode for part of the journey and added to the antics with funny faces, idiotic songs, muscle shirts, and one especially odd sport known as cold lap challenge where bags of ice were held in your lap as long as possible across the hottest parts of Missouri.

Fred, can you tell me what tires you used for the trip?  I need something for my M38A1 but am not set on MD tires - I did a trip like this long ago in a 1966 Volvo.  The generator went out and battery died on the highway and left me in Harlem, but I made it!  Nice work!
