The family-friendly Easter Jeep Safari was started in 1967 by the Moab Chamber of Commerce and later taken over by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers, who continue to do an amazing job hosting and regulating the event. The trails are primarily on Bureau of Land Management land and some private land. The usually sedate town comes alive with activity when four-wheelers roll into town. Moab has all the amenities a small tourist town can offer and then some. Here visitors can find anything from chromoly axleshafts to a $100 steak. The trails around Moab are a great place for novice or beginner drivers to cut their teeth and hone their off-road driving skills. The trails are chosen by lottery, with the lucky draws getting their first choice of trail assignments. Late registrants have trails assigned to them as openings become available.
