Most of the trails le Year after year, thousands of us drive the long haul of hundreds, if not thousands, of miles to Moab for the annual Easter Jeep Safari. The payoff for this arduous journey: Incredible four-wheeling on some of the most spectacular and majestic land this great country has to offer. Easter Jeep Safari isn’t just for Jeeps. Although some of the trails are only wide enough for a Jeep or buggy to squeeze through, a skilled driver in a larger truck can still have a blast.Easter Jeep Safari isn’t just for Jeeps. The technical aspects of the wheeling here can be a as challenging as the best hardcore drivers can handle or as light as Ma and Pa want while putting their way to a great picnic spot on a scenic overlook. The family-friendly Easter Jeep Safari was started in 1967 by the Moab Chamber of Commerce and later taken over by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers, who continue to do an amazing job hosting and regulating the event. The trails are primarily on Bureau of Land Management land and some private land. The usually sedate town comes alive with activity when four-wheelers roll into town. Moab has all the amenities a small tourist town can offer and then some. Here visitors can find anything from chromoly axleshafts to a $100 steak. The trails around Moab are a great place for novice or beginner drivers to cut their teeth and hone their off-road driving skills. The trails are chosen by lottery, with the lucky draws getting their first choice of trail assignments. Late registrants have trails assigned to them as openings become available.
