Ultimate Adventure 2004 - Sponsored by BF Goodrich Tires

1800+ miles of mud, metal munching rocks, and midwestern madness.

Photography by The 4-Wheel & Off-Road Staff

Every year we spend a week out wheeling the gnarliest trails we can find, and this year our Ultimate Adventure on and off road trip headed to the midwestern states. We found more stinky mud, steep hill climbs and axle snapping boulder fields that we ever knew existed around the great lakes, and battered our convoy of 20 sponsors' and readers' vehicles through some of the tightest trails we could uncover. Our Ultimate Tacoma led the group through four different off road parks that had a plethora of unusual terrains, as well as long on the road days to prove that our street driven vehicles can also attack the most difficult landscapes off road.

Even though we had some of the best trail rigs around in our group it didn't mean there wasn't any trail carnage. Imagine conked out motors, devastated drivetrains, and body damage galore, and that was just on the first day of the trip. By the end of the week, our off road adventure had more stories of off-road escapades and campground repairs than most 4x4 owners see in their whole life, so be sure and pick up our November and December issues where we'll give you the complete story. Then check back here for our complete gallery of over 100 action photos!
