Dodge is back in NASCAR racing, but how about Jeep? We thought a Winston Cup car had winched up the trail behind us when we heard Gary Howard’s 350 TBI CJ-7 roar over Rocotillo Rapids. Howard’s ’81 Jeep rolls on 39-inch Boggers and runs Dana 60s with Detroits and 5.38s. Basically the stuff that AMC engineers wanted to use, but the corporate guys wouldn’t let them back in 1981.
