When summer comes to the wheelers out west, most desert denizens head for the cool mountains to test their 4x4s. Back east, the Jamboree schedules herald the end of wintertime projects, and all of the show trucks, down-and-dirty wheelers, mud draggers, and monster trucks strut their stuff. The 14th Annual Summer 4-Wheel Jamboree Nationals are no exception, and this Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania mecca is the hot spot for fun in the sun.
Like most 4-Wheel Jamborees, this spectacular event is held at the local fairgrounds, where rows upon rows of shined-up custom trucks vie for attention amid the bikini-topped beauties wandering around garnering their own looks. Stock and chromed rigs alike cruise up and down the walkways, with flags fluttering out the back as they idle past onlookers and participants.
The heat of the noonday sun and rising humidity are ignored, and a trip to the covered grandstands provides the needed shade for the crowd as the mud draggers shoot rooster tails in tandem. The grandstand entertainment heats up when the Tough Truck competition begins, interspersed with magnificent monster trucks crushing cars and bouncing around like tennis balls. This sure aint the Rubicon, nor is it intended to be.
From show n shine events, a manufacturers midway, Tug-A-Trucks, NMRO Mud Drag Racing, and a Mickey Thompson Burnout Competition to the ever-popular Tough Trucks bashing and crashing around the course, theres something at these shows for everyone.
