The Wagoneer's rearend was built to reliably take the family wherever they need to go off-highway, even under the harshest conditions. The Dana 60 axle was fitted with 4.56 gears, a Detroit Locker for dependable traction, and custom alloy axleshafts. The axle sits below a set of custom Alcan springs, and the Jeep's ride is damped by Warn Superlift Black Diamond shocks.

The AMC 401ci V-8 was completely rebuilt and fitted with AMC 390X high-compression heads, Harlan Sharp Aluminum Roller Rocker Arms, and an Edelbrock Performer cam and intake manifold. A Holley 4010 750-cfm carburetor is used to feed the engine, and a crossflow aluminum radiator from BJ's Off-Road keeps it cool.
