2003 Jeep Liberty Engine
Powered by a 3.7L engine, the Liberty's V-6 is plenty strong to scoot the Jeep down the trail and through the city. To give the Jeep a little extra aid rolling the 36-inch Iroks, a set of Motive Gear 4.56 gears was installed.

Replacing the factory independent suspension up front is a custom four-link built by Cape Fear 4x4. Secured to the fresh multi-link suspension is a high-pinion Dana 30 axle yanked from a late-model Cherokee that's fitted with a set of 10-inch-travel Fox coilovers.

Controlling the factory 8.25-inch rear axle is a custom triangulated four-link that uses Ballistic Fabrication brackets to secure the arms in place. Supported by a set of 8-inch Jeepin' by Al springs, the KJ has plenty of ground clearance to tackle everything from the shopping mall to the mud bogs.

2003 Jeep Liberty Steering
Since the Liberty was fitted with a rack-and-pinion steering setup from the factory, a new steering system had to be devised. Since James did not want to spend a ton of dough but needed the Jeep to be easily controllable both on and off road, a steering gear box from a Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ was used. Completing the custom steering setup is a set of DOM steering links that tie together the Teraflex high-steer arm and pitman arm.
