Nothing could stop Tim Wolberg's red '86 K10 Chevy from getting on the cover of 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine. When Tim heard we would be in Oklahoma to shoot a trail ride put on by Wagner Machine Shop he postponed his family's interstate move to South Dakota just to get a chance to show our camera what his 11/42-ton could do.
Unlike most of the owners of '73-'87 GM trucks we feature, Tim has kept the three-pedal configuration that the factory installed and repowered it with an NV4500 and a Gen II Doubler backed TPI 350, instead of the typical 454/TH400/NP205 combo. Now Tim has all the torque on tap he will ever need to turn the 38-inch Swampers, with the ability to cruise down the highway in Overdrive
While he was in Oklahoma, Tim really hammered on the truck, and considering that it is his daily driver and he was going to have to use it to move all of his worldly possessions the following week, we were impressed. He went back home with some new body damage, but nothing a few cans of Krylon can't fix. That's the kind of personal sacrifice we love to see from our readers!
