To set endplay, the original shims were lubed and put in place as a starting point. If no endplay is evident, remove shims until some endplay is felt. If excessive endplay is observed, add shims to tighten the assembly. The existing shims are usually adequate, but more are available in a variety of sizes. View Related Article
