All this bashing on having your ride looking good. Tsk tsk. You're kidding yourself if you think that looks don't matter. Tell that to loveable Pammy Anderson or that genius-in-disguise Jessica Simpson. Oh, looks matter all right.
The way your truck looks can many times mean the difference between riding with a bud, or one or two girls (sorry, buds, but we knew you'd understand). And while that might not make a difference to you on the trail or in the desert, it definitely makes a difference around town on a Friday night. Trust us. Even the average Jimmy off the street who knows nothing about trucks will like a smooth-looking paint job, a beefy stance, and up-to-date looks. And even hard-core dent-lovers and rust worshippers can respect a sweet-looking ride if it's a functional one and not just built with spacer lifts and 1/4-ton running gear.
Morphing the look of your truck is the most important thing you can do, hands down. Example: When you go to sell your truck, how much money will you get if the body's in perfect condition? Now how about if it's wasted and crushed? It doesn't matter what's under the hood or the frame if the body's not looking sweet; it'll be worth next to nothing. Why do you think that is? Because looks matter!
Looks matter. C'mon, admit it. Look at the blue Bronco. It has great looks, and still is super functional. How much better does this look than a Bronco in stock trim, with stock tires, and (ugh) uncut rear fenders? And speaking of looks mattering, see how much better this Bronco looks with two cutie girls laughing and hanging out in the back of it? Makes that Bronco look more appealing, doesn't it?
Wheels and tires can make a big difference in looks as well. A wider (and possibly shorter) tire can give a really stocky look to a truck and make all the difference. On the other side of the coin, a tall skinny tire fits some truck's lines very smoothly and keeps a very subtle look. It depends on what you're going for. Also, though they don't improve the functionality of the vehicle, the wheels can make or break the looks. You don't wanna run around on sissy-looking tires and wheels.
What about on the trail? Well, looks can make a big difference for you as well. Let's say that you don't make a hillclimb or something. Well, heck, that doesn't matter! All that means is that you'll have to go sit at the bottom of the hill with all the girls lounging around who don't want to climb that hill, but do want to sit on or in a nice truck with clean interior. Not making that hillclimb all of a sudden doesn't seem so bad anymore. In fact, you'll probably have a better time at the bottom with the girlfriends of the guys who did make the climb. See how happy you can be when your truck looks cherry?
