Jeep Wrangler TJ Master Craft Baja RS Suspension Seating

Bolt-In Comfort

By , Photography by

Whether it's that well-worn recliner sitting in the living room or the classic bench seat that has just the right amount of cushion left, everybody loves a nice place to sit. Since the introduction of the Jeep Wrangler in 1987, thousands of wheeling enthusiasts have used the rugged two-door platform for everything from daily driving to backyard mud bogging. While the Wrangler is well known for its no-frills interior, the factory seats haven't always fit the bill when it comes to comfort on the trail or long-distance commutes.

Luckily, MasterCraft Safety shares the same love for comfort and Jeeps as we do and offers a full line of replacement suspension seats for early- to late-model Wranglers. Using its years of wheeling and off-road racing experience, MasterCraft created seats that are tough enough for the off-road racer yet comfy enough for the weekend trail king.

With our buddy's factory Wrangler seats in his '01 TJ were wearing a little thin, we decided to upgrade with a set of MasterCraft's Baja RS seats. The Baja RS seat is a unique part of MasterCraft's line, as this seat is fitted with a heavy-duty adjuster that allows occupants to recline to their liking. In addition to the great adjustability, the seat accepts a five-point safety harness system, plus it works with your factory seatbelts. Best of all, the Baja RS is a totally bolt-in upgrade; it simply attaches to the TJ's factory seat rails. The total install time is about 45 minutes per side, depending on how fast a wrench you are, and it's an easy driveway job.

So if you're tired of how tough on the tail your factory seats are, then cruise on over to www.mastercraftsafety.com and see how they add more comfort to your terra cruiser.

The beauty of the MasterCraft Baja RS seat is that you get all the same free-range reclining motion as your original seat. And since the supportive seat bolts directly to your factory seat slider, you can still flip the passenger seat up to let your rear passengers pile in.

Though the Baja RS is completely compatible with your factory seat belts, one of the advantages of the race-inspired suspension seat is that you can equip it with a five-point safety harness. Just remember that a five-point belt system requires sturdy mounting locations and often ties into a rollcage.
