The 16-inch shifter was a good choice for our project: Its length placed the shift knob within comfortable reach, which will make it easy to shift from the driver seat. The auto-shifter features a smoothly operating lockout button. We also like the shifter's retro look.
Transmission swaps, modified 4x4s, and custom buggies almost always require shifter modifications or completely new assemblies. The Lokar shifter assemblies should be preassembled and loosely bolted in to make sure all components fit. Once everything is in place the fastening hardware should be tightened and shift linkage adjusted properly.

The guys at Overkill Engineering helped with this install and had to grind the linkage ball joint off of the factory transmission arm to accept the Lokar connection bolt. The back of the stud was ground off, and then it was pushed out of the arm.
