A very common blunder is cheesy battery mounts. Wood, bungee cords, and rope are not acceptable for battery hold-downs. Factory or custom plastic or steel (aluminum corrodes quickly when in contact with battery acid) mounts should be used. The rubber cover on the positive terminal provides some protection from the hood crushing in and causing a short. View Related Article
