As magazine editors for 4-Wheel & Off-Road we are constantly exploring new trails, moving parts from one location to another, and testing equipment from around the globe. While having a truck bed to dump all your old parts and trail gear into is great, sometimes it's simply not an option. So rather than trash and overload our SUVs and smaller rigs we've found a trailer solution that's perfect for our wheeling and long-haul needs, the Trailgater.
Designed by the custom trailer pros at Bear Trailersports in Chatsworth, California, the Trailgater is a virtual all-in-one midsize utility trailer. From its conception the rugged Trailgater was intended to be light and nimble for the trail and refined enough to pull both smoothly and safely on the road.
Each Trailgater is built with a beefy 2x3-inch boxed steel frame with reinforced 14-gauge steel. Since the trailer can haul loads up to 2,000 pounds, it makes a great platform for hauling heavy axles to the shop, a quad to the hunting property, or firewood and coolers to the trail. Other standard equipment includes a durable powdercoat (multiple color options), flush-mounted LED taillights, dual external side-mounted D-rings, a swivel jack, and a lockable storage box.
