Here’s a comparison of upper arms. The stock, stamped-steel piece on the right is more prone to bending than the tubular, chrome-moly arm in the middle. The long-travel upper arm has an extra tube and a gusset wrapped around the ball-joint mounting plate. Also notice the length differences.
