Mike Marrero was one of the best-prepared readers on the trip, not so much because his truck was extremely well prepped or bulletproof but because of his co-driver, Donnie Roebuck. You see, Donnie had come on UA twice as a reader in years past, so he knew to let Mike know to expect the unexpected. So when the driveline bolts came out, the brake booster failed, and he ripped apart two tires within 24 hours, Mike knew it wasn’t something to panic about, but rather a typical day on the Ultimate Adventure. Fortunately, the UA is all about teamwork and having a good attitude, something both guys excelled at. The Nissan performed well and even helped us get the wheels spinning for our own pickup project.
