Don't Dune Alone
Don't go out without another truck, don't go too fast, and beware of drop-offs .... Without another vehicle around for miles, I broke all the rules and ended up doing a 25-mph nose plant. Three hours later, after some minor bodywork and engine repairs, we were back cruising the dunes (cautiously).

Mess of the Month
Try and Try Again
We tried to out-jump some dirt bikes ... and we did! Too bad we overshot the landing by 52 feet, snapping the front axletube and rolling the truck over when we landed.

Dirt Skiing
This is my 1966 CJ-5, with what I thought were some stout parts on it, but then this happened. After everything from the output shaft of the transfer case to the front axle broke, the rear axle popped, and I was down to one-wheel drive. We found a tailgate that was abandoned and chained it up for a skid, and spent the next three hours trying to figure a way to drag my junk back to camp.
