April 2008 Best 4x4 Truck Whoops!

The Best Of The Worst!

Top 10 Whoops!

Rising Sun 2 Sinking Path
We went out wheeling right after a typhoon one day in Japan, and needless to say, i learned quickly that you should always test the waters before you get in too deep.

1-Night Stand
Thanks to my heavy right foot and a few broken steering components, we had an all-night recovery party.

Totaled Toy
This is what's left of my '88 toyota 4runner after a roll from a nearly vertical hillclimb. luckily it looks worse than it was.

Gilligan's Island
Where's the snorkel when you need one?

Full Tilt
Well, this didn't work out the way I thought it would.
Kelly Leach, via 4wheeloffroad.com

Spider Bite
I'm just putting the fall back into the waterfalls on Poison Spider mesa.

Muddy Boot
Some of the locals here in italy told me about this trench that I should go try. As it turned out, the mud, sand, and water mix was more like quicksand than anything else. it took a 10,000-pound winch on the front of a deuce-and-a-half to pull me out.

Swamp Thing
This is my '92 toyota with 18 inches of lift and 38.5-inch Boggers right after i dropped into what i thought was a shallow water crossing. i went in with a quarter tank of gas and came out with a full truck of water.

Jonny Craig
Here is my '79 CJ after hitting a hole on the bomb range at the eagle Air force Base. i ended up ripping the leaf spring off of the perch and splitting my dana 18 transfer case down the side. The worst part was the four-hour walk to get back to base. I think we lost about 10 pounds after it was all said and done!

Rock Flop
We had been on this trail several times before, but this run was just a little different.
